LCD TV Overview

LCDs first became common in the 1980s for various portable computer roles. At the time they competed with plasma displays in the same market space. The LCDs had very slow refresh rates that blurred the screen even with scrolling text, but their light weight and low cost were major benefits. Screens using reflective LCDs required no internal light source, making them particularly well suited to laptop computers.

In early stages LCD TV refresh rates were far too slow to be useful for television, but at the same time there was no pressing need for new television technologies. Even with lot of advances, LCD TV screen sizes over 30" were rare as these formats would start to appear blocky at normal seating distances when viewed on larger screens. Nevertheless, some experimentation with LCD televisions took place during this period. In 1988, the first commercial LCD television, a 14" model was introduced. These LCD TVs were offered primarily as boutique items for discerning customers, and were not aimed at the general market.

LCD TV prices have come down significantly compared to the early days, the introduction of more newer and slimmer LED TV has played a role in this as well. However LCD TV still has the majority of the market. But the speed at which LED TV is growing it's not far when LED TV will take major share. The fact is LED TV is actually a better product, its slimmer making it look more sleek and also consumes up to 40% less power.

We have entered LED market earlier this year with the launch of our 24" LED TV. It was actually the first 24" LED TV in Australia at the time of the launch. And due to our direct to customer sales model the prices we can offer is far better than traditional retail stores. Also it's the first LED TV that can run on 12 volts making it perfect for use in Caravan or Boat. Earlier this year we also introduced a more feature packed model of our 22" LCD TV named Max22i. Now this 22 LCD TV is 1080p Full HD and also has SD card USB input which is great for viewing family photos and via USB you can connect Flash drive or external hard drive and to view all the videos stored on hard drive. Our 32" and 47" LCD TV now feature 120 hz panel which is great for watching sports.

In the coming years we will be bringing more new and advanced models of LCD and LED TV at unbelievable prices. Here at Tyagi our aim is to provide latest electronic products at unbeatable prices to all fellow Australians. At this stage our main focus is on LCD and LED TVs, but soon in the future we will be bringing more gadgets.
